Abstract
The industrial revolutions have introduced innovations in the staple yarn spinning industry which impacted the patterns of manufacturing from slowly producing low-quality yarn to low-cost mass production of high-quality yarn tailored according to customer needs. The emergence of digital technologies such as the Internet of things, cyber-physical systems, artificial intelligence, big data & analytics, and cloud computing during the fourth industrial revolution or Industry 4.0, allows to transformation yarn manufacturing processes resulting in smart manufacturing by integrating these technologies into machines used in the staple yarn spinning industry. In this chapter, Industry 4.0-based intelligent solutions offered by key machine manufacturers for the staple yarn spinning industry are presented and the key features of these systems are discussed.
