Written Evidence to UK Parliamentary Committee ‘Every Child Achieving and Thriving’ White Paper: ECA0083

Our response draws on our research with pupils, as well as systematic reviews of relevant evidence. We respond to the following areas, under the theme ‘Enrichment, Belonging and Behaviour’: ● How schools can promote belonging and positive relationships, while addressing bullying and discrimination. ● The role of the proposed Pupil Engagement Framework in enhancing pupils’ sense of belonging and enjoyment of school. ● How enrichment and pupil engagement should be measured and incorporated into school accountability frameworks. We acknowledge that the Education Committee is examining SEND reform separately. Where we have shared evidence related to pupils with SEND, we have done so to highlight how the White Paper’s proposals relating to belonging and the Pupil Engagement Framework can work equitably for the diverse range of pupils attending schools in England.
