Abstract
The modern state as a concept is elusive; just when you think you have some formulation, some definition, or some working theoretical grounding, the rug is pulled out from under you. My own journey in trying to ‘deal’ with – or make sense of – the state began with the teachings of the late Kym Pruesse, an activist, artist, and professor at OCAD in Toronto.
