Abstract
Infrastructure robotics hold the potential to improve the maintenance of buried infrastructure, thus saving time, money, and effort. Here we present theoretical and experimental investigation of radio wave propagation inside buried sewer pipes, for the purposes of enabling the command and control of such robots. Good agreement between modelled and measured results lay the foundations for the development of system-level models for underground wireless networks.
