Abstract
For sympony orchestra (3.3.3.3/4.3.3.1/perc/hrp/strings - 10') Written for the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra as part of 'Composer Lab 2016' with the Irish Contemporary Music Centre. Performed 16/05/16 at National Concert Hall, Dublin. 'Abrash' is a word used by Morton Feldman to refer to the beguiling qualities of colours in Turkish rugs, where hand-applied dyes are mixed in small batches, leading to constant shifting hues across the whole. This rich shimmer of colour is carried across into my orchestral work, a weaving of many instrumental threads using 'mistuned' natural harmonics to achieve a shimmering line around the pitch E.
