Abstract
This article analyzes the populist dimension of the right-wing extremist AfD, the Alternative for Germany party. It explores the party’s history, heterogeneous “container” ideology, electorate, and propaganda strategy. Drawing analogies with Trumpism, it also addresses the reasons behind the AfD’s success, including the contemporary crisis of masculinity. Finally, the article suggests some ways of combatting the AfD.
