Abstract
This chapter highlights the latest advances in Bacteroidetes research, with a focus on their unique approaches to phosphorus (P) and carbon (C) metabolism. The chapter also hypothesises how these metabolic strategies link with the emerging importance of these bacteria as plant disease suppressing agents and discuss their potential for increasing P acquisition in plants.
