Abstract
An orthogonal estimation algorithm for complex number systems is derived. It is shown that a modified Error Reduction Ratio (eRR) test together with the orthogonal estimation algorithm provides an efficient way of identifying both the structure and the unknown parameters of complex number systems. A forward regression procedure is proposed as an optimal search algorithm for this problem and simulated examples which show the application of the method to the parameterisation of linear frequency response functions are included.
