The need for education to facilitate and nurture creative and innovation skills among graduates is not new, especially within the areas of design. However, the importance of these skills and in particular their application to business outputs at individual, organisational and national levels has seen renewed interest from political and academic experts alike. As a result design and business faculties and those teaching within them are facing increasing pressures to engage with and develop appropriate pedagogical practices. The aim of this paper is to aid this engagement by highlight examples of best ‘different’ teaching collaborations between design and business. Underpinning the need for research into best ‘different’ practice is Phillips’(1981) definition of educational innovation as “a practice which is worthy of emulation and has not yet been put into use by a significant number of colleges." As such the paper looks to learning, teaching, assessment and environ practices that are of value to design and business educators but are not standard within their respective faculties. This paper will not only take a multidisciplinary view to the exploration of creativity and innovation theory it will also employ this methodology in relation to pedagogy practices. At its core, it will explore the interface between creativity and innovation through a specific focus on educators engaging in innovative pedagogy through collaboration.
