Abstract
This article discusses the process of making and evaluating a play and accompanying workshop for rural communities in the Luo speaking Nyanza district of Western Kenya. Our focus is on the cultural translations involved in the process of seeking to engage communities in discussing information that might be useful to them in enabling women to have safe and supported pregnancies. The work was decided on, researched and evaluated by Jane Plastow and created by Matthew Elliott with Lagnet Theatre, a semi-professional Theatre for Development company based in the small town of Ahero.
