Gregson, Kate (Accepted: 2018) Teaching English to Young Learners: International TEYL Research Papers 2018. UNSPECIFIED. (Unpublished)
Abstract
This 2017-8 edition of TEYL research papers contains reports on small-scale classroom-based action research undertaken by post-graduate students for completion of their Master of Arts degree in Teaching English to Young Learners, from the University of York. In this edition, five papers are presented, focussing on: developing teenagers’ written accuracy of tenses using self-assessment and peer editing techniques (Marianne Dark); utilising portfolios to encourage metacognition and to document understanding with the aim of improving the listening performance of primary learners (Naomi Eichenberger); utilising comics strips to aid vocabulary acquisition with 10-11 year-old learners (Nadine Ehrler); the use of self-assessment in developing fluency in speaking with 13 year-old learners (Pamela Lendi-Duran Sanchez); lastly, minimising transition times through the use of organisational aids in a class of 13-14 year-olds (Renée von Memerty). This edition has been compiled and edited by Kate Gregson from the MATEYL supervisory team at the University of York. The 2016 edition is also available online, while earlier editions are available from the University of York.
