Abstract
The aim of this paper was to develop a computational model capable of predicting perceptional glints of metallic coatings. Here, it mainly describes a segmentation method to extract a meaningful glint from the reconstructed images. The glint segmentation was attempted using a Gaussian fitting theory of histogram. The performance of the computational model was evaluated comparing with the result of psychophysical experiment. In addition, this study reports a similar case of crispening effect from the result of the visual assessment.
