Abstract
In this study, it was intended to use visual effects of formative factors that appeared in optical art, and of illusion, a major formative factor, to combine them with fashion design. For this, an examination was done on optical illusion phenomena sensed by humans. Then, the illusion effect of lines was disassembled into line factors, so as to design clothes from which the illusion effect of lines could be perceived in partial patterns as well as in whole. As for the pattern used as a decorative factor, 卍-shaped pattern, which was traditional in Korea, was chosen to re-compose into a pattern which gives the illusion effect of lines, and then apply it to fashion design.
