Simons, P.C. (2017) Partonope of Blois. In: Echard, S. and Rouse, R., (eds.) The Encyclopedia of Medieval Literature in Britain. Wiley-Blackwell ISBN 9781118396988
Abstract
Partonope of Blois is a fifteenth‐century English adaptation of a late twelfth‐century French original, whose popularity is evidenced by its translation into a wide range of European languages. The English version retains the figure of a highly autonomous, quasi‐magical heroine who appears to stage‐manage much of the narrative, but also owes a debt to the techniques and many of the works of Chaucer.
