Abstract
How are the constituent features of elements within the environment bound together in memory to form integrated or associated representations? A body of research has started to emerge examining this broad question, with important implications for how we experience the world around us. The present summary explores binding and relational processing across a range of contexts, taking a cognitive perspective in focusing on different forms of binding within working memory and relating this to long-term association formation, before considering how the brain might achieve memory binding.
