Abstract
In this letter, we propose a simple differential spacetime block code with a quasi-orthogonal structure. A simple and general encoding procedure is presented, which differentially encodes the signal transmission matrix as a whole at the transmitter end. A novel power estimator is derived at the receiver to allow for the non-constant amplitude of the received signals. Simulation results show that our scheme has performance equal to the best full rate quasi-orthogonal schemes previously described, along with a simpler decoder.
