Abstract
This special issue builds on the reflections developed by Marie-Soleil Frère† and Sylvie Capitant in their texts ‘Africa’s Media Landscapes/Les Afriques médiatiques’ (2011) and ‘Perspectives on the media in “another Africa”’ (2012). More than a decade after their work, it revisits not only the divides between Francophone and Anglophone scholarship but also the material, institutional, and epistemological conditions that underpin them. By bringing together articles by African scholars on both Francophone and Anglophone linguistic areas, and by reflecting on the research environments in which these studies are produced, this issue seeks to promote an academic dialogue that is attentive to the inequalities that shape the dissemination of knowledge.
