Toji, S. (2024) Pesquisa Exploratória “Quem somos nós? Trajetórias de vida e trabalho de mulheres migrantes em São Paulo”. Report.
Abstract
The report, dated November 2024, presents the results of an exploratory research study conducted in collaboration between the Luz e Vida Immigrant Women's Association (AMILV) and the University of Sheffield. Using a participatory action research methodology, the study aimed to understand and systematize data on the life and work trajectories of a group of women participating in the association.
The research covered several dimensions, including the characterization of the women, their family situations, formal education level, migration status, housing conditions, and individual perception of being a migrant. Furthermore, it delved into the participants' work situation, analyzing aspects such as income, pregnancy, and the relationship with their children.
As an exploratory study, the authors emphasize that the results are not statistically representative of the entire membership of AMILV. However, the research provides important insights that can aid in the design of future, more precise and accurate studies on this population. The report concludes by suggesting the relevance of continuing the data analysis in a process of co-production of knowledge, maintaining dialogue with the research participants themselves.
