Abstract
Introducing the historical and contemporary cultural context underpinning Chris Bush's new play, 'Otherland', which follows the lives, intimacies, and struggles of a community of queer women in modern Britain. The article touches on the history of trans/feminist and queer activism, conceptualisations of the category of "woman", statistics and impact of medical misogyny and medical racism on women, both cis and trans, and gender minorities, and more.
