Abstract
This paper sits mainly within the area of control engineering, which is a core topic in many engineering degrees. There has been a recognition from the international control community ([1],[2]) that a typical first course in control needed to be modernised and improved in order to engage and excite current students and make it more relevant to their future career needs.
