Abstract
On Wednesday 26 February 2025, the UK Climate Change Committee published its recommendations to the UK Government on total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions for the "Seventh Carbon Budget" (CB7) covering the period from 2038 to 2042. The Climate Evidence Unit at the Priestley Centre for Climate Futures, University of Leeds, have undertaken a rapid evaluation of the Seventh Carbon Budget report. This evaluation provides a sector level analysis that identifies the key issues for each sector, the key technologies, and considers the missed opportunities. A key takeaway is that the transition to net zero is not only possible but highly beneficial.
