Abstract
This study discusses the use of one-dimensional elastic and rigid models in designing pressurized hydraulic systems. The focus is on understanding pressure and velocity variations to predict adverse transient conditions and develop appropriate measures. The elastic model is applied to an undulating pipeline with auxiliary components including check valves and an air vessel. The closing/opening action of a rapid valve is tested under different boundary conditions, inducing surge conditions in the system. Pressure and velocity data are predicted using elastic model, and a rigid column model is formulated as well.
