Abstract
AI-tools have the potential to transform education within the post-16 vocational education sector. Vocational education involves practitioners teaching students about trades, and consequently developing their own dual identity as educators as well as discipline specialists. However, these educators are not always confident in using digital technologies. In this chapter we will reflect on the implementation and evaluation of an AI-assisted tool ‘TeacherMatic’ within a specialist further education college in England. We will examine the effectiveness of the tool together with teachers’ attitudes towards the tool and AI-assistance in general. We will discuss the tools’ effectiveness and give recommendations on how the tool could be improved within the context of specialist technical education.
