Abstract
Extensive reading refers to the reading of a large number of texts for pleasure. It can contribute to students’ language knowledge development as well as general academic success. However, to ensure the effectiveness of extensive reading activities, reading texts in these activities should be selected in a principled way. In this lesson plan, I will present step-by-step instructions on how teachers can use VocabProfilers to choose and adapt materials for their students’ extensive reading activities. I will also raise some points for consideration (e.g. the use of VocabProfilers to select materials for extensive listening materials, how the ideas in the lesson plan can be implemented as both in-class and out-of-class activities).
