Abstract
The energy-efficient train control can effectively reduce energy consumption of railway network by optimizing train driving strategy. This paper proposed a method for optimizing driving strategy by two-stage allocation of redundant running time. The time-optimal train driving strategy requires shortest running time while highest energy consumption. By two-stage allocation of redundant running time, time-optimal train driving strategy can be transferred to energy-optimal train driving strategy under the premise that train arrives on time. In the first stage, part of redundant running time is allocated to long coasting regime before maximum braking. In the second stage, the remaining redundant running time is allocated to the maximum traction-coasting regime pairs, and to further reduce energy consumption. Time complexity of the proposed method is linear. A case study is carried out and the results show that the energy consumption of train operation is reduced by 10.33% under the premise of punctuality.
