Abstract
The zebrafish is now a well-established model for the study of the development, pathology, and regeneration of almost all vertebrate organ systems, and the inner ear is no exception. The focus of this chapter will be on recent advances in our understanding of otic development and function in the zebrafish, together with findings that have come from its use as a disease model and for drug discovery. In addition, we provide an overview of new methodology and techniques available in the zebrafish, which are expanding the scope of this remarkable model organism for study of the inner ear.
