Abstract
A central methodological tenet of comparative international constitutional law is comparisons with state constitutions. The chapter explains why this is happening but moves beyond this to explain who are the users of comparative international constitutional law and what purposes are served by its use. It then goes on to discuss certain criticisms vented against the use of comparative methods and the challenges posed by its use. Its overall aim is to provide a critical exposition of the use of comparative methods in international constitutional law.
