Abstract
Over the past two decades, since around 2000, Arabic NLP researchers have investigated a variety of approaches to PoS-tagging and morphological analysis. In this paper, we present this research as a timeline or a list of events in chronological order, to illustrate the evolutionary development of the field. We present a timeline of 24 different approaches and tools for Arabic Part of Speech (POS) tagging and morphological analysis. Most of the work focuses on Modern Standard Arabic (MSA). A few systems aim at Dialect Arabic (DA); the Classical Arabic (CA) gets the least attention.
