Abstract
The University of Sheffield is establishing a 50 g-ton 2m radius beam centrifuge that can accelerate a 500 kg payload to 100 g. The centrifuge is central to a larger project that will see the establishment of the Centre for Energy and Infrastructure Ground Research. The specification and construction of the centrifuge are described and a brief summary of the laboratory infrastructure is provided.
