Partonope of Blois

Partonope of Blois is a fifteenth‐century English adaptation of a late twelfth‐century French original, whose popularity is evidenced by its translation into a wide range of European languages. The English version retains the figure of a highly autonomous, quasi‐magical heroine who appears to stage‐manage much of the narrative, but also owes a debt to the techniques and many of the works of Chaucer.
