La Sala, MC (2018) Promoting the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages for Progress in Language Learning. Gentes, 5. pp. 41-56. ISSN 2283-5946
Abstract
The aim of this article is to discuss the findings of my project to promote the CEFR for progression in language learning. The project addresses: the development of learner responsibility and autonomy and the need for a clear description of competences and qualifications to facilitate coherence in language provision and mobility in Europe (Nuffield Languages Inquiry). This article will discuss how students were involved in shaping the project: (a) identifying major challenges in achieving language proficiency as well as learning strategies to achieve success (b) playing an active role in the development of a model for assessing writing in the target language based on the CEFR. The article will also include our reflections on this initiative and will offer the students’ perspective on their experience of becoming creators of resources
