Debate : Freedom, power and capacity—analysing the fallout from the UK’s ‘Brexit’ referendum

This short article sets out how the capacity constraints in the UK civil service mean it will struggle to deliver any other political priorities as it deals with the process of exiting the European Union. As a consequence, the UK Government will not be able to deliver on many of the promises made by prominent politicians who campaigned to leave the EU, and public disillusionment with the political process is likely to increase.
