Abstract
This report pulls together all the available evidence and information on the state of sanitation in the world today. It looks at access and usage data, summarises the benefits of improved sanitation, looks at benefits relative to investment and operational costs and makes the case for greatly improved investment in the sector. This report is based on background documents prepared for the UN Commission for Sustainable Development 12th and 13th sessions on sanitation.
